One thing that I love to do is rearrange the accessories in my home. I find myself reorganizing and wanting to give new life to a room, and the best way to do so is to repurpose items you already have. I always feel a sense of accomplishment if I can reuse an existing accent and reinvent it somehow to create a new style in my home. Here are a few simple and creative ways to take some of your old items and make them new and fresh. All it takes is a little creativity and some time to reuse, renew, and upcycle!
Use old sweaters to give your existing throw pillows a makeover. Use the buttons and scraps of fabric twisted into rosettes to add interest and charm.
Get your hot glue gun and attach a beautiful glass or goblet to the underside of a plate to make a chic cake stand. This is great for holiday décor or for parties. You can also use smaller plates and candle holders to create different sizes and heights.
Paper mache objects with strips from old books.
Create eclectic wall art using an array of fabric swatches and wooden embroidery hoops. Pull the fabric taught in the hoop. Run a line of glue on the inside of the hoop and press the fabric into the glue. Allow the glue to dry and then trim excess fabric.
Use a wood ladder to display quilts and blankets or accessories.
Repurpose a wine bottle into a vase by spray-painting any color (or chalk board paint) or wrap in raffia string. Do you have any upcycling projects you have tackled? Please, do share!
